Hello. I have a single panel radiator on the stud wall in my master bedroom. The radiator BTU is too low for such a large room, so I decided to replace it with a double-sized radiator of the same size - 600x1200. I bought a radiator from B+Q but noted just how heavy it was. Does anyone know if the stud wall is likely to be able to support such a heavy radiator?
Thanks.

I'd be putting in a few noggins in to take it. You can do it from the front or to try and preserve the cosmetics of the wall it will be mounted on, you can chop into the wall from the other side and add noggins from that side.

You could just screw batons across the studs but the rad may end up standing fairly proud of the wall.

Yes, between the verticals.
Amn alternative is a sheet of something like 9mm mdf. You can stick or scre it to the wallat the verticals, and usw hollow wall anchors through it to make a sanswich which is very strong.

This suggestion from Chris is excellent as it will (as he says), provide a very strong support and will only have a minimal effect on the radiator standing proud of the wall. Personally I would screw the board to the verticals and I assume when Chris says 'stick' he means nail, as any adhesive will instantly rip the plaster from the wall upon hanging the rad.
