Hi all,

I removed a radiator yesterday but its been leaking from the bottom of the nut all night! I just can't stop the trickle of water. Is this common. I've obviously damaged something?! Water's off now but we'll need it on at some point. Any advice? I don't fancy removing the olive.

Can I just cork up the pipe? If so, what do I need for this? Or can I put a rubber washer inside the nut??

Cheers

Dave

Although it's damaged, if it's just a weep rather than a gush, some jointing compound on the olive (I use water hawk) should stop the leak.

Edited for drunk sounding typo!

Oh right, is the rad back on now? Doh! Misread that as you were getting a leak out of that pipe in the pic.

Yeah, jointing compound or some gas PTFE (it's thicker and can bridge bigger gaps IME)

Cheers guys. I actually got a rubber washer and slotted it in the nut and it seems to have done the trick! I don't know how long it'll hold but we're looking to close that rad off in the next couple of months anyway. I've not put the radiator back on, I probably never will. Good to know about the jointing compound though, and if I'd had wifi or 4g to read your messages earlier then that's what I'd have gone out and bought. Thanks for the advice!
