radiator pipe work mounting behind dot and dab!

I have had an extension built and wish to fit a radiator to a block wall which will be covered in dot and dab plasterboard. I have been advised that i can mount the 10mm micro bore behind some "tophat" but putting some damp proof course membrane behind the pipes to make sure they dont touch the block work. Does this sound like a good idea? also whats the best way to then fix the rad to this type of wall?

Sounds OK. You can get white plastic coated 10mm copper which might be easier. Or 10mm plastic pipe.

Fixing - you just have to go deep enough. "Frame fixings" are good. 3 to a rad bracket shares the load better.

They look like hammer fixings, but are much better.

Are you saying the plastic stuff just wont need the DPC membrane but still the tophat?

Er, I assume you were protecting the copper from the blockwork to prevent corrosion - plastic don't do dat.
Not sure where you're putting your top hat - if plastic, what's it going to achieve? They might move a bit so best to leave a gap if plastering over, was that why?

Yes the top hat was to give it that bit of freedom to move.

Remember 10mm plastic is only about 6mm bore, so don't go too far!
