we took rad off to plaster. was off a few days. when we put it back on it haeted up nice. but then went cold. we took off flushed with power washer then put back on. it was hot aGAIN BUT NOT FOR LONG. DO WE NEED A NEW RAD.? it is an old rad but it was the best one on system until we took off and put on again. is it worth buying new rad?

Probably a sticking valve one end (check trv centre pin springs up and down once you have the top off) or an air lock in one of the pipes. Put ch on with several other rads turned off, to push air along pipe.

It would have filled from one end with hot ch water initially.

Don't worry about that, there's plenty of us in the same boat. :D

If it's an open vented system, you could close each valve on the radiator in turn, then run loads of water out of the bleed valve, as this will help shift any air stuck in the pipes. It can take days to shift all of the air in pipes.

:D thanks. this site has saved me an alot of money. I hate calling people out because you think your gonna get ripped off. I quite enjoy havin a go myself anyway. when i did turn off rads upstairs alot of gurgling was going on in pipes goin to prob rad so ive bled it again and it is perfect :D Thanks again to all my diy buddies who replied ;)

If it's any help, we do offer a telephone rip-off service at very attractive rates. Some times of year there is a seasonal Buy One Get One Free offer. We don't even need to bother you, you just have to post a cheque (or cash)
