We have 5 radiators on one level the combi boiler is on the same level, the top half of the radiators are hot the bottom is cold, does anyone know any reason why this might happen.

Maybe there is insufficient flow from the pump, to see if this could be the case, turn a few radiators off and see if the others get hot then.
Is there a manual by-pass valve that hs been opened too much and the water is taking the easy route through that, rather than through the radiators?
If that doesn't work and the system doesn't have corrosion inhibitor in, over time the radiators can get full of black sludge that settles at the bottom of the radiator and prevents it heating up.
