I have just had a loft conversion. There are four radiators in the loft. Two in the main bedroom are fantastically hot, one in the small room is hot and the one in the bathroom is luke warm at best (goldilocks syndrome!). The plumber has changed the pump, balanced the radiators and bleed the system - it has no effect whatsoever to the one in the bathroom. He is totally at a loss. The only way the one in the bathroom works is if I shut down all the others.

Any ideas??

The plumber has balanced the system! Yet the two bedroom radiators are hotter than the small room?

I'd be tempted to close down the lockshield valves on the bedroom rads some more and check the bathroom one is fully open. Also tweak the locksheilds in the rest of the house down a little. Water is very good at taking the path of least resistance - and if it can circulate easily in the rest of the house (especially on the same floor as the pump) it will do just that. Provide some more resitance downstairs and more water will end up in the loft and perhaps in the bathroom.

Thanks for the reply - the plumber has re-balanced the radiators in the loft now but the bathroom one is still only a little bit warmer - I've noticed that one of the radiators in the bedroom needs a lot of bleeding every couple of days - could this be relevant? Anyway I'll try and balance out the floor below now where the pump is situated.

Thanks again for the advice
