Radiator whistling

Hi

I’ve read some threads on this but still unsure. Only one of my radiators in the house does this. There is a high pitched whistling noise. Like an old kettle sort of noise.

It disappears when I turn the trv down. I’ve tried replacing the valve but it still does it. It also makes a tapping noise when turned down to 3 on the trv. So no whistling but it’s replaced with a tap. Is it worth taking the radiator off and flushing it out? What else could it be?

Some things to check

Trv pin moved freely? Last week I fixed a bedroom radiator that was hissing as trv pin jammed, so pulled and pushed with 3 in 1 oil. Now it springs in and out easily and no radiator hiss.

As for ting ting noise. Or knock.
Check radiator brackets have nylon bush on so radiator can slide as it warms and cools.

Also check trv flow direction. Most valves are both directions but some are one way. If the flow out the radiator is against the valve it hammers. To test, whichever pipe gets hot first is flow in. Look at trv valve there is a flow direction arrow. Trv should be on flow in.

It’s a brand new trv and it made no difference to the sound so I assume it can’t be that.
