We have just moved into a house and we have an approx 30yr old open CH system with expansion tank in the attic. It has a seperate boiler, pump & manual diverter valve for the hot water tank/Central Heating.
The expansion tank in the attic has only one pipe down, which i assume is the filler pipe so there is no vent.
Downstairs is on a room-stat (3 rads) with the upstairs rads on TRV's (3 rads).
I had a new radiator fitted last week, since then have had to bleed the non-TRV radiators daily. The TRV radiators do not need bleeding.
Have you any suggestions? Where would the air be coming from? Where is the water going? We have effectively emptied 3 radiators of water 3 times.
When they have been bled the radiators get lovely and warm, but within an hour only the bottoms of the radiators are warm.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Many Thanks
