we have just had a new chentral heating system installed. Biasi boiler and 9 radiators. The water is great (we did not really get much before), but the heating does not seem much different. The radiators are hot but the rooms just dont seem to heat up sufficiently. Its not too cold out today and we have the control on no.6 (it only goes to 7) and I would have expected us to be sweating cobs, but we have all got jumpers on.... any advice?
Thanks

No 7? Have you though of turning it up?

I take it this is on the boiler, and you don't have a room stat? Therefore your install is outside the UK building Regs, non Part L.

It is fair to expect it will not be gas work notified, so you can't easily sell your house. Did the fitter measure up the rooms and do a heatloss calc when sizing the rads? I thought so

Best advice, get a corgi resistered installer to do the job. If it was just installed and you are asking us for advice, it must be a cowboy job

If your boiler is on full and your rads are that hot you cannot keep your hand on them then it is simply a case of your rads not being big enough fto heat the room... IF on the other hand you can keep your hand on rads without them burning you then it could be a problem with boiler not getting hot enough

As far as I'm concerned any new ch system fitted should only need the flow temp out of the boiler to be about 60C to let the radiators heat the rooms enough.

Don't know Biasi's but if you max is 7 then I would expect you to be able to run it on about 41/2 or 5.

Radiator outputs today are designed on a flow temp of 50C, which is why they are slightly larger than older ones, this helps keep the return temp to the boiler as low as possible to keep the boiler in it's condensing mode as long as possible.

It sounds as if your ch system has not been designed properly at all. Did you ever see the installer measure your rooms, ask what walls you have, ask if you have cavity insulation, take account of any open fireplaces etc etc?

As it is a Biasi boiler, he has probably just gone to B&Q and bought the cheapest heat pack available regardless of whether it is powerful enough for your property

I think Simond has summed it up very well unfortunately

"heat Pack" :?: funny, that .I remember subbing to a large National Gas Company......back in 1980  and they did the same "one size fits all " Nothing changes, except Corgi, PartP , H+Safety, Waste carrying licence, ad nauseam
