Hi
Two problems
1)We have an Alpha CD32C, which is just over 3 years old. Recently we have started to have water leak from an overflow? at the bottom and we constantly have to add water.

2)When we set the the dial to hot water only and run the hot water, even for a short time, the heating comes on. We end up switching the dial to all off. We have a digital timer and it is set to constant OFF.

Thanks anyone

What you are calling an "overflow" is presumably the pressure relief valve vent.

But this should have been connected by pipe to the OUTSIDE where it can dischages safely.

It sounds as if your boiler was fitted by a non corgi cowboy?

If its what I suspect but the installer was registered then you can call him to correct it and if he refuses you can complain to CORGI who will serve a defects notice on him.

Thanks Dan / Agile.

Fitted by a Corgi registered guy. (And a good guy). Now lives in Spain.

It makes sense about the sludge. Is it straightforward to clean the filter?

Thanks

Yes, but is this leaking thing the PRV vent that has not been taken to the outside?

Hi Agile

There is a pipe running outside (would that be the condensate discharge) but I do believe you are correct re the PRV. Having trouble getting a good look at the moment. Some building work going on in the kitchen. Will get a better look tomorrow evening.

Thanks

There should be six copper pipes and one plastic for the condensate.

He's not such a good guy if he did not safely discharge the PRV to the outside.

In the event of a fault, that pipe could discharge superheated steam at 120 C and if there was a child playing under the boiler then......

People have been killed by that before and many others seriously scalded. So its not that trivial !
