Rads only heat up when stat on highest setting

We have a combi boiler and all but two of our radiators have thermostats fitted. The rads with stats only heat up fully when the stat is on its highest setting - Any ideas?

What is the temperature of the air? If this is hot enough, the stat won't open. What position is the stat in? if it's on the flow end of the rad it may see the heat generated from the pipe.

The air temperature is chilly! The stat is on the flow end, but we've had the system for six years and it's never been a problem

I think he means, the actual temp??? A reading!!

What make are the stats??

Do they need renewing???

Sorry - still don't understand the temperature bit - how would you take a reading???

The stats are Westerham - but surely they wouldn't all go at the same time, would they? We're talking about seven radiators, plus three without stats.

It probably won't surprise you if I confess to having ABSOLUTELY NO TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE!!!
