Ok...spent most of last night either consumed alternatively by anger and by dismay.

As mentioned here //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=468836#468836 had some problems and replaced the gutters. Everything fine and dry in the cellar...got back last night in some horrendous weather. Went to the bedroom (note...only room that has been completely finished - new plaster, wallpaper, radiators, blinds, curtains, carpet ..you get the drift) and started to hear dripping. On investigation found that water was hitting the window ledge inside the room. Went to the attic rooms and looked at the new gutters and they seem all in place (seamless aluminium) but can only think thats the cause as the room has never had a leak problem before.

Does anyone know if replacing gutters would likely dislodge something? We did get references from the guttering people but starting to feel they were cowboys and loathe to get them back. Would get up there myself to look but don't have ladders that high so looking like yet more expense....

anyone fancy a nice 'do-er up-er in Yorkshire?

Really need some pics .......there could be any number of reasons depending on eaves/wall/window details

If the sarking felt at the eaves does not project into the gutter, then rain will go into the soffit and run back towards the wall before getting in above the window.

Well said woody ...wish I`d thought of that

Does the top of the window virtually meet with the soffit board or is there one or two courses of bricks inbetween ?

If its the first then it makes it so much easier for water to run in, as per woody's statement above :)
