New neighbours built an annex that we did not object to then they installed a rain soakaway in their garden and raised the level of their garden we are on clay we are slightly downhill all work done without them consulting us or hsving a discussion regarding the Party Wall Act

We have been here over 30yrs and the gardens do flood in heavy rain but they drain by the next day. We know the lay of our land.
Now since the soakaways were installed we have flooded part of the garden for weeks. We have pumped away on one ocassion 1000 ltrs of water.
We also don't know if they informed the council or had perculation tests etc. We can't see anything on their planning permissions for a soakaway.
This soakaway was made with crates not a field drainage system we think they are overflowimg into our garden
We prefer to keep on good terms but we are now gettung stressed out
Any information would be welcomed
Thanks

Maybe not the correct approach but maybe you could ask them to divert the down pipe into the sewer. Failing that I cant see what else you can do unless you raise your garden level.

Soakaways don't work in clay so a bit odd they have done, was the build done with Building Control approval do you know?
