Intend to use BAL single part flexible adhesive for floor tiling [on to WBP] which shows a working time of 5 hours [Not in any rush to use the floor]

I see that rapidset is recommended on the WIKI but only has a working time of 45 mins.

Now I have done a fair bit of tiling albeit only one large floor and I consider myself competent enough however I would rather have the extra time the 'normal' 5 hour stuff gives me.

Any views on using one or the other??

Many Thanks.

They'll both do the job. If you're half competent you should be able to cope with rapidset. Maybe don't mix as much in one go, if not.
Rapidset allows you to complete the job much faster - the tiles won't move after half an hour and you can grout after a couple of hours. This allows valuable time to be spent in the pub, rather than tip-toeing around over tiles. ;)

Unless you need the additional advantages of Single Part, Rapidset every time. It allows much faster progress as GC says; only mix up enough you can safely use in 30 mins or so but that can be an awful lot once you get going. You can't afford to waste time fafing around cutting tiles in between though so you need to plan it; on anthing other than large rooms, I will lay it all out & do all my cutting/trimming first, then you don't have to stop; it only takes minutes to mix up a new batch anyway! ;)

I lay all the full tiles first. Then by the time you've finished laying those, they should have stuck fast. You can then walk on the tiles to cut and fit the edge tiles. Cut each one and leave them ready near the edges. Then mix up some adhesive and you'll quickly fill in the edging tiles.

Thanks everyone...great advice as usual.

Best convincing bit was being able to spend more time in the boozer with rapidset!!

:D

exactly right except for one thing. do the edges next day, can charge more then!
