Hi

Someone Please Help!!!!

The hot water stopped working so the diverter valve and micro switch were replaced.
Since relighting, the hot water has resumed (great!) but the Radiators have stopped. There was nothing wrong with radiators before. I have double checked all the connections. During the diverter valve replacement I took my time and made sure the correct wires went onto the micro switch.

Originally, when the radiator knob was turned up to max there was a click, the pump would activate. Now I've noticed no click, and the pump is on continually.

I'm not sure if i have missed out something. i.e bleeding or pressuring. I'm very frustrated as the hot water is now working. The cheapest quote I've had from repairers is £190 just to enter my door step. This is ransom money and I suppose that’s only starters after loads of uming and arring and time wasting, the bill will probably triple. I can't trust the rogue traders out there, I'd rather freeze.

Any Thoughts

Regards

Any Thoughts

I'm wondering if there is a problem that has caused one of the microswitches to stick on the on position in the diverter valve head.
Quite hard to check because this head is at the far end of the valve.
Time to find a torch and inspection mirror rotate the head so you can see inside it and then you should see the pin push a plastic 'foot' onto the switches. Check this is working OK and there's nothing else stuck in there.
If you cant see whether one of the switches is stuck in the on position you can test for it electrically

I have just had a shuftie at the wiring diagram :-

The microswitch with wires 24[common], 25[Normally open] and 26[Normally closed] on it will not send any power to the heating stat via wire # 25 if it sticks in the normally open position.
This would explain your 'no click'

Have got the boiler side panel off so the inside of the micro switch is visible. Can see with a torch that the there is no obstruction and the two switches are pressing freely.

Please advise

Check the other end of those wires - that the voltages (power on) or continuity (power off) is arriving where it should.

When CH should be on, does the fan come on(high)?

The thermostat should still make a slight click even with no power to the boiler, I would have thought. Can you check across its contacts?

The cheapest quote I've had from repairers is £190 just to enter my door step.
Good grief, where in Surrey; St George's Hill? On second thoughts I doubt there are any of these boilers there ;)

Do youhave/need the wiring diag?

Just try this quickie first. Something I always try on any boiler with this sort of problem
Turn boiler off. Wait 30 secs. Then turn back on again. See what happens

Another daft one. Did you get any water on the electrics when you changed the valve? If so get the hair dryer out and make sure everything is dry.

After that its time to get clever with a multimeter.

Is there 24V going down wire 25 from the DV head to the stat when there is a call for heating?

Yes = DV head is ok so your heating stat is the next suspect
No = DV head is suspect. Just because you can see a button operating doesn't necessarily mean that all is well inside the switch

There is at least one very good and reliable installer in surrey, you could ask him to sort you out.
If the company that installed your boiler is still trading, they should be able to provide you with all the manuals for your boiler. It makes life a lot easier if you can see exactly what goes where
