I have a new Ravenheat System boiler that has been installed in my house, with a S Plan central heating system and hot water tank.

It has a Danfoss S Plan programmer valves etc.

It works perfectly in hot water mode, but when I put it into central heating mode it runs for the alloted time and then when it turns off for that period, trips the red reset switch on the boiler.

Frankly I'm a little baffled as I've only just had it installed....

Any help would be wonderful as I don't really want to call out the plumber again...

Cheers

This sounds like the fan pCB but just call the installer and he will arrange for it to be repaired by Ravenheat under the guarantee.

Unfortunatley I had the boiler for a year and a half till I had it installed. So the ravenheat guarantee will be out.

Is the fan pcb replacement difficult?

Thanks for the help

Kev

If its the fan PCB then its an acknowledged fault and they will probably agree to repair it as if under the warranty. I think its two years anyway IF you had it fitted by a CORGI !

I suppose you are now going to say it was illegally fitted and the warranty card was never sent back!

If thats the case then you only have yourself to blame!

If it was fitted by a CORGI then he should have completed the benchmark Certificate and notified CORGI who will have sent you a Blue certificate! Ravenheat are very accommodating if its been professionally fitted.

Why do people love to cut corners?

It was fitted by a corgi guy and i do have my certificate to prove it!

Thanks for the advice, I'll give Ravenheat a ring on Monday.

I bought the boiler (cheap) from B and Q as it was on offer and it took us a good while to get round to fitting it. In the interim the warranty card got lost so it only finished being fitted in March. Obviously we didn't use the heating till it started to get cold and I noticed the fault.

Thanks for your advice....

Kev

You should be polite and say the boiler was fitted by a CORGI on the ..... and you have the Certificate from CORGI.

Technically the warranty starts from the invoice date when it was sold. However, as this is an acknowledged fault with the fan modulation PCB, I am expecting they will agree to fix it for you.

If you have any difficulty then email me and I will give you the name of someone there to contact ( but dont mention my name! )

Let us know how you get on!

All Ravenheat 'A' rated boilers of this age came complete with a 3 year manufacturers warranty ;)

The CSI 85 is a standard boiler fitted with a recouperator and they claim 88% Sedbuk and their web site shows it as a Band B ( although the LPG is Band A )

I seem to remember that they call it a Band A boiler. Perhaps they use the LPG to enable them to call it a Band A ?

Regardless, if its the fan mod PCB they should fix it for you.

Hey guys,

I called ravenheat and they said that the serial number I supplied them with, was not a serial number for any of their boilers.

So I fixed it myself. It seemed the three most common things to go on these boilers are the overheat thermostat, the centralheating sensor and the fan pcb.

So I ordered all three of these from AKGasonline.

I was going to go through the parts in order of expense but I thought it may be the overheat thermostat as that was what kept tripping. I changed the overheat thermostat and that solved the problem.

The rest of the parts got returned and cost me around £20 quid in restocking fee.

Thanks for your help guys, you were really useful.

Hey guys,

Kev

Do you have any explanation for that? Could you have got it wrong?

If you are sure you have given the correct serial number then please advise me of the number and I will check it for you.

Tony

Hi Tony

Thanks for your continued effort but I can't give you the number now.

The boiler was in a property that I had on the market, hence the reason for getting it fixed. I fixed it just before moving so now I have no access to boiler or theyou help serial that was on the blue card filled in by the corgi engineer.

I actually phoned ravenheat as I was reading the serial number off the inside of the boiler, and they told me it wasn't a serial number of one of their boilers.

Anyway, once again, thank you for your help. Its great that you help us non plumbers/gas fitters in all plumbing problems.

Cheers
