Rather than purchase a split load consumer unit I like the idea of having a larger single load unit but using RCBO's. Apart from the obvious cost implications :( is this a good idea.

The building is quite large and divides nicely into 4 (if you get my gist), so I thought I would break the bank and have 4 RCBO's to minimise any disruption. While in the spending mood I was thinking of 4 MCB's for the lighting circuits, separate (fused spur connection) MCBS for the cooker, washing machine, tumble drier, fridge freezer, UFCH controls and bell transformer.

All in a one large metal clad CU.

Then a second small RCD protected (4 way) CU for the garage (lighting and power).

By the way I won't be doing the install, just buying the bits.

Barmy or what :?:
