Hi I pushed the orange TEST button on my circuit breaker see enclosed picture and the switch has tripped as it should but now how do I get the switch back to the original ‘on’ position please?

On some RCD's you have to push the switch down to the fully off position. It should then be able to switch it back on by firmly pushing upwards.

Yes, 9 times out of 10 that's the solution.

thanks for the reply but the switch is fully in the off position ( it has no resistance and just ‘flops’)
It’s only 1 1/2 years old, and I really don’t think its broken. You can now move it t all the way to the ‘on’ position but it won’t stay there it’s just a ‘flips back down again. I have tried turning the main fuse box off and leaving it for a minute then turned it back on again but this had made no difference. Really don’t know how to ‘reset’ it.

What brand is it?

Will it set if you turn off the main switch?

. I have tried turning the main fuse box off

Its a 32A RCBO and labeled EV charger. There is a very good chance it is not supplied from the main fuseboard, OP is there a separate main switch thats not part of the main fuseboard? (post a pic if not sure) If so, try as John says and switch it off and see if this device will reset with the power off.

The brand appears to be Eris, which I believe is the own brand of yes electrical wholesalers, and I suspect actually manufacturer by Terasaki

Edit: Corrected, I wrote switch, when I was thinking of yes!

https://www.yesss.co.uk/eris-consumer seems to be a 'badged' range exclusive to this supplier.

Perhaps go back to the EV charger installer? It may be faulty?

I'll assume the EV plug/lead is disconnected when attempting to re-close the breaker. Also that you've ensured the 'press to test' button has fully sprung back (and not still partly stuck in so simulating an earth fault).

Generally a 40A device is more sensible for EV charging so that it's not running at its full nominal rating for hours at a time.

I think you chaps have solved the problem. If the feed for the EV charger & it’s RCD (pictured), does not come from the main fuse box but comes from the electric meter then the chap who installed it will have to come back out and reset it. I’ve enclosed a picture of the meter, I’ve no idea what I’m looking at but you chaps might recognise an extra box or something which might help give us the answer!
Thanks

1. Looking at the picture, yes the supply to that RCBO does come from supply straight from the meter, those black boxes are just big terminal blocks, and you can see two sets of tails going off, one to original fuseboard, one to new unit (I highly suspect)

2. The devices does not need a reset, the idea with turning the supply off to it (which we have now found is not possible) was a fault finding step, if RCBO latched on with no power then the issue would be electrical and could either be with the downstream cirucit (quite likely) or with the rcbo itself (possible but less likely). If it would not latch on with no power then the issue is mechanical with the rcbo and its goosed!

3. It looks like the installer will have to come out anyway, there is either an issue with the RCBO or the Charge point

4. You should request that a single point of isolation is installed for the installation (Don't let him tell you that there is one in that siemens meter - there is isolation - but its not for use for ordinary persons, and the meter may be at risk of being swapped out for smart one anyway)

Thank you very much for your time. I will email the installer first thing tomorrow.
Meanwhile I need to find a local EV charging point!

If the EV supply is fed from those tails that go up and through the wall they need replacing with 25mm anyway. Wonder how EV chap managed to work on the Henley blocks without being able to isolate supply....
