Re artexing over silk emulsion

Hi all,

I have artex ceilings in hall with a small stipple pattern, that has been painted with silk emulsion.
The stipple is quite patchy and I want to re-stipple it, can I just re-artex over the silk emulsion and stipple it or do I need to prep it in another way - please dont say I'll have to remove it.

i'm afraid you have to remove it first..

when you plaster an artexed ceiling surely this is just the same, you give it a coat of PVA to make it tacky then replaster.

Wont the silk have just sealed the artex, if it was done right and a watered down first coat of silk was used and further coats then added.
