Re-fitting rubber seal on washing machine by the door

Hi
We've been given a washing machine, but the rubber seal by the door is coming off.

Is it held on by a circular metal wire, which uses a spring to keep it in place.

What's the trick to getting the rubber seal back on?
I've tried getting something under the wire in a similar fashion to getting a tyre off the bike, but no joy.

They can be painful to get back on, you may need another pair of hands and a couple of pry-bars will be helpful.

I found that with patience one can replace the seal easily by feel, then try twisting it round before attempting to put the wire retainer back on. Obviously the inner part first and use two stubby screwdrivers to help get the spring in place.
The outer is also relatively easy, again feel all the way round to ensure the seal is seated over the flange properly and as deeply seated as possible, before putting the wire on.
