Recently been up on the roof and noticed the rain water is pooling on the opposite side of the guttering to the drain hole at the other side of the house, and ive noticed when it rains the water pours out on that side on to the ground. im thinking over the years the level has gone or it was fitted by a cowboy and its now running the wrong way.

Im thinking the best thing to do will be to take it all down and re hang it, its plastic but the looks of it and in fairly good nick and its all the correct length etc.

any tips or tricks to refitting it all?
how do I easily work out the gradient?

thanks

However deep the water is will tell you how much you need to raise that end by. Wait til summer to do the job, the plastic clips are brittle in the cold.

If you only have one down pipe draining the whole house gutter then you perhaps need to work out where another down pipe could go.

When fixing gutters to falls you must go to the position furthest away from the down pipe and raise a piece of gutter in a bracket as high as it can go - anything lapping down such as felt must only enter half way into the gutter at this point.

Now fix that first bracket.

You then string a line from the first bracket all the way to the down pipe, and fix brackets at MI's intervals along the string line.

Use a cheap line level to see that falls are maintained all the way from the first bracket to the down pipe.
