Re pointing Sandstone Slabs

Hey all

Looking to re point between my patio slabs, I will use same at what was used before Sika FastFix All Weather Jointing Compound.

The question I have is, and I presume the answer is yes...Do I need to remove the old pointing or just any loose top layer? As I said I expect the answer to be remove all but any advice welcomed.

Depends on what finish you want. Happy with just some areas done?
Also you don't want to go damaging slabs removing it all if you can just do the problem areas and it all matches colour.
