following on from this debate i have posted some pictures(first time pic post guys hope it works!!) of exactly wat i mean which i come across all to often.
obviously it isnt usually as obvious as this normally cover has to come off!!
on this particular one if i remember the whole mains leg had to be rewired because of how damaged the cable was!!which also happens to often!!

hopefully now you can understand what i mean so sarcasm etc (holmslaw) is not needed or helpful when making a legitimate point!

Starspark,

thats one serious melted/burnt out connection! Although I do experience the same problem now and again , I have never come across a pull switch burnt out as bad as this one.

Was it a big job renewing the cable back to DB? Could you not have recovered slack from above or even reposition the switch?

I tend to leave slack above, not that i'm expecting any of my connections to end like yours, I mean that

wasnt my connection rms!! ;)

i cant remember really whether was slack to be honest i come across so many!!i just thought would post it as found it in van before when having clean out!

there has been few that have had no slack etc and required rewire though as im sure you have probaby had to do yourself at one time or another.

that spirit level has been with me through thick and thin!!ten years and its never failed me!!(only my eyes do that  )
def my favourite tool by far!!

3 things can cause that sort of damage 1. a loose connection (most common) 2. to high a demand through the switch or 3. a faulty switch

seen all 3 over the years but no.1 has been the culprit 90% of the time.

So it doesnt have a little picture of a flower, or the word "macro" in the menu for the camera? Every camera phone I ever had has this feature.

I took this with my Samsung U900 Soul, by no means a great camera phone.
