Re-treating shed

I painted the new shed with a timbercare paint (autum gold) and to be honest it looks awful (too bright).
I'm looking at getting a Cuprinol fence sprayer for the new fence and was wondering if i could go over the gold on the shed with a darker colour using the sprayer?
Would it work or do i have to rub the gold paint off first?

I think it will be fine to spray over it. Ive done it a few times on my fence.

Beware what you use in the fence sprayer. You will always get overspray, and that may kill your, or your neighbours plants.
