Plastic plumbing is very good if fitted correctly and used for some purposes. If we are talking in cosmic timescales then yes in 10,000 years it might rot away completely and leak.In normal time scales modern plastic piping is not particularly prone to leaking in the next 50 years if fitted correctly.

really ??????? its still shyte ;)

It's not the pipe that is the problem.
It's the rubber in the fittings. Have seen it perishing on some installs.

What are the O-rings made of that makes a big difference.

At work we go by ARP5316 which states,
  • 5 years: Polyurethane (millable), SBR, Natural Rubber, Polybutadine, Polyisoprene
  • 15 years: Nitrile, Neoprene, HNBR, Polyacrylate, Butyl
  • Unlimited: Ethylene Propylene, Fluorocarbon, Perfluorinated Elastomer, Silicone, Tetrafluoroethylene Propylene (Aflas®), Fluorosilicone.
At a guess i would say they are epdm so unlimited life span.

No need to google one of those things i need to know for work. We use EPDM for everything as it doesn't require any maintenance, if it can hold a seal at 39,000 feet i'm happy to trust a bar or 2 of water with them.

But it's what's in the water that is of concern!
