I have a light in my kitchen which is allso on the same double switch as my out side light, there are lots of wires, how do I put it back together so that both work independly???
Ideally before removing electrical accessoroes you should mark up the cables so that you can put them back in the same positions again.
You should have two grey/white cables coming into your switch box. Both of these will have a red core and a black core (with red tagging). One is for your kitchen light, the other for the outside light. Connect one of the reds to "COMMON" on one switch then connect the black core of the same cable to "L1" of the same switch. Now do the same for the other cable, this time connecting them to the other switch way.
