I have bought a tiny rear view TV camera from a Chinese Ebay seller but come up against the expected problem of the connections.

The camera has a tiny female circular socket 8mm in diameter with about five connectors.

Has anyone been able to find out what the connections are?

Thanks

Tony

Didn't it come with another short lead which converts the small round connector into a standard DC jack and yellow Phono jack? The idea being that you only need to drill a smallish hole through the boot to fit the single round connector through first.

If it really is 5 pin and not four, then the spare wire is often to activate/deactivate the reversing coloured lines, OR, to flip the image.
There is no set colour code for the wires, or standard pinout, not even a standard connector!! If you have no converter lead or instructions, get a refund through eBay.

The seller has been totally unhelpful and just says I need to "buy a lead!" Without saying what or where from.

The connector is a FIVE pin !

Any chance you could post an image of the connector? Also what is the camera brand/type. Is it a generic one or specific for your vehicle?

Does the camera input get wired to a separate screen? The input should either be a yellow RCA as shown in the image above or a 2.5mm jack.

The camera is a cheap unbranded Chinese one.

I will see if I can get a photo of the plug.

Yes the five pin one seems to be the one that I need.

But I am still left with the problem of finding out the connections on the four connector jack plug!

By 4 connector jack plug you mean the 2.5mm jack on the other end of the 5 pin wire?

Why don't you post a link of what you ordered so I can see the kit? Or maybe post pictures. The 2.5mm jack should go to a screen part of the kit to transfer video from camera and output to screen. By the sounds of it all you have received is a camera?
