my mrs wants a cooker hood fitting, as we live in a semi, and the cooker is on an inside wall i cant vent to outside without tearing down the ceiling which we do not want to do. She wants a recirculating cooker hood, i have said that it will only take away some grease etc and not moisture/steam. so that the windows will still get steamed up.

am i correct? or do they take out a little moisture?

ours doesnt. but then i can not see how it can, its just a fan and some fancy stuff called a filter

Re-circulating cooker hoods cant remove

Steam/vapour
Heat
Most smells
All smoke

On a vented hood these would all be vented to the outside

There are some hoods which can duct the vapour etc outside by running ducting along a wall from the hood (not as pretty though and it starts looking a bit like a professional kitchen)
