Recommend a ratchet and socket set

trying to get a tap cartridge out and general car maintenance.

I have a halfords 65 peiece one which i have had for 4 years, it was about 40 quid. I can't fault it really, has had plenty of use on motorbikes and small engines. The one factor is the ratchet is quite short but that in my mind is an advantage for most tasks as it fits better into small spaces and the selector for direction is a little switch thing and easy to use one handed. For heavier duty stuff i have a big torque wrench so if you need it for larger stuff the small ratchet might not be so good.

It won't matter how many sockets you have, when it comes to fixing cars you'll never have enough.

Halfords Professional range - life time warranty. Given mine some outrageous stick and only broken one allen driver and a 1/4" ratchet.

another vote here for halfords pro stuff, there were offers on a few weeks back on the socket sets and they are as good if not better than your britool/facom etc

This is the one i've got. Never pay full price though, every so often they have a promotion and they come down to half price for a short period.
