Hi all,
I am in search for a replacement boiler. I need something of 28 kW.
What I am looking for is:

Reliable
Longest warranty
Low to mid range price
Good out of warranty service (fixed price repair or care plan). For instance vokera have fixed price repair but they don't have the people to offer that in an area of 300k+ people.

Any recommendations?

How often are you expecting a new boiler to break down? If it’s been installed correctly then there shouldn’t be much of an issue, however like most things, stuff can break prematurely. Baxi/Main are good options as are Vaillant, Worcester, Ideal. You’d need to find an engineer who installs one of these though, as quite often installers are accredited, so they’ll push the brand.

After my poor experience and terrible reliability issues with a 12 year old Ecotec there is no way I would recommend Vaillant. A friend with the same boiler is in the same position. Reading reports and talking to installers the issues were sorted with more recent boilers but they burnt their bridges for me. I’m hearing good things about Baxi.

Heat only, System, or Combi boiler? What makes you think you need 28kW?

If the boiler has a 10 year warranty you don't need to worry about repairs for a long time, and the landscape may well change significantly in a decade

Combi boiler.
Vokera offer 5 year warranty.
A £700 Wrochester/Bosch also 5 years. Obviously £1500+ boiler might have 10years, but this is more of an exception.
Ideal had excellent out of warranty plan for 12 years boiler. However this boiler had this issue where main heat exchanger had a crack meaning pressure drop/lock out. Also the loud banging noise from the gas valve.

Here is a spare parts question.
Which brand have the easiest to find new spare parts? I was looking for Main PCB 1.045759 for alpha e-tec 28nx just as a test search and could fond only 1 sold out on ebay.

Vokera Pinnacle 30C has a 10 year warranty, and is an excellent boiler https://www.mrcentralheating.co.uk/vokera-pinnacle-30c-combi-boiler

Pretty much every brand has parts available next day if you know where to look (not eBay). Not that it will matter to you for 10 years anyway if you get a boiler with a 10 year warranty...

Any boiler needs to be serviced as per makers recommendation
That is minimum call for any good engineer

Failing to carry out this essential maintenance will result in malfunction.

I too have the same boiler. Like any other, components have failed. Would I get another? Of course I would. Then again I am a heating engineer and like to think I know what boiler has good build and which one is a can of worms. Ecotec is anything but poor quality

Of course it needs to be properly serviced. The poor reliability was in spite of being well maintained.
