Already very grateful for the useful advice received previously on this forum. I am now trying to source some engineered oak wood flooring. I am looking for:
- 1 strip oak
- 120mm or more
- 6mm wear
- matt lacquer finish / just not too shiny
- not too worried about the thickness provided, as long as it performs as it should in a place with big temperature and moisture changes
- prefer square edged, but grooved is fine
- hopefully around £30/sqm (happy to be put right on this expectation if necessary)
As recommended by people here I've tried to find some local sources with little success so far. One company provided their own product which had the 6mm wear layer, but they only had a very shiny lacquer, and a quite dark for oak finish overall which was £37/sqm inc vat. Only other places I've found round here that provide engineered wood are Wickes, Topps etc. I've seen one floor of a friend with the B+Q engineered wood floor down, and it somehow makes the wood look quite plasticky, which doesn't look great. Another place we were recommended ended up being a vinyl wood look alike specialist!! So we're a bit stuck.
It looks like we will be restricted to buying online. Could anyone provide recommendations of worthwhile online companies and if they know of any particular products that might fit the bill. We will order samples if companies provide them, but I am just very wary of people's warnings here about the poor quality of some online companies. Any help appreciated!
Thanks for any help/advice,
Jimbo
