Just "reconditioned" (sanded) a beautiful old floor in a top flat. The boards appear to be Tongue & Groove (although around 100 years old). Although I don't really need to fill in the gaps inbetween the boards, I'd like to look into it. Anyone know what products are available for this? any inspirational ideas or advice?

cheers

Hi

Did you be any change save some of the sawdust after sanding, preferably from grid 80?
If so, mix it with Mix and Fill from Bona and apply to the gaps. After it's dried, sand again with grid 100 - 120 and apply finish.
If not, why not leave the old floor as it looks now: old and genuine ;))

I was once told that wax string is very good for this, provided you can get a close match with the colour.

Thanks chaps

mix & fill from Bona... Does B&Q carry this?
Incidentally, I did save *all* of the dust. Don't suppose there's a market for it...!!?

think hes is suggesting mixing the fine dust with pva glue to make a filler indeed thats what i would suggest but only if the sawdust is simmilar colour eg not full of dark varnish when floor is now natural pine colour

That's why we always use the sand dust from grid 80 (second sanding). That's the most clean dust (where varnish, dirt etc has been removed with first sanding with grid 40)
Mix & Fill is not only PVAC, an extra 'odourless' drying compund is added.
