A friend of mine is an occasional DJ on a small local radio station that is also live on the internet. He cannot get recordings of his program from the station ( don't ask why but the station manager's say it cannot be done ) He wants me to record one program for him from the live web broadcast. The reason is so he can send a CD of the program to his son.

I cannot find the software to do it.

Can any one help ?

I have a laptop with Windows 7 or a tower with Windows XP and can use either.

Only get one shot as the program is not repeated.

Probably illegal so I don't know how.

But, my friend uses Audacity (its a free download).

He said you will have to switch on stereo recording (or record in mono), but nothing to hard. Just set it up to record what you hear on the laptop.

Always do a 10 second test on the program before the one you need.

Ableton will also do it, but if you don't need to mix then its a bit big

See how you go, I can ask him if you need more info?

Audacity is excellent and easy to use. Just one point, when it records it uses its own format, so when you save the file you need to select the platform e.g. MP3

Firefox add-on ''Download Helper'' allows download of any video /audio feed with just one click.
