I have a system boiler in the loft. The feed and return from it go to the airing cupboard on the top floor where there is a 3 port valve and an indirect cylinder.
I want to disconnect radiators and pipes for building work, but want to keep the boiler running for the hot water. My thoughts are to cut and cap the 2 22mm pipes feeding out from the airing cupboard or alternatively put full bore isolators on these pipes, so the water only circulates through the hot water cylinder.
Logic says to me this should be fine, it's similar but not quite the same as when the 3 port valve is in the hot water only position, but I do wonder if it might cause any problems having a much reduced capacity which would be a total return pipe run of about 12m.
Thoughts ?
