Refinishing Parquet - Shine

C

Coniferman

I am sanding down ready for a new finish and have some Sandolin Floor Oil which claims to give a "clear silky sheen". I have tried it in a small section (2 coats) and it is completely matt. Preiously it was very shiny. Does it just need more coats or do I need another product instead of, or on top of, if I want to repeat the old shine.

Ideally would like it a little lighter but not essential.

Their own instructions say: buff the floor after 24 hours to get a shine.

Thanks for the reply. The tin I have only says to polish off after 20 minutes, which I did. I just tried another buff but made no difference, Assuming, buffing means just with a dry clean cloth?

Could it be I did not use fine enough sanding at the end? The oil did seem to absorb very quickly.

I can see that the instructions on the website are different in that the line about "polish after 20 minutes" is missing, so I will try not doing that. It is nice and shiny until I was doing that! Maybe that is why B+Q were selling them off at half price
