Regs on lintel above porch door?

Afternoon,

As connected to some on my other posts I’m modifying/ extending my porch by removing one upvc side panel with brick… the opposite side is already a double skin brick wall connecting next doors porch.

Anyhow the first headache I’ve come across was all
Inside the porch was asbestos so as I have young children that gone so now it’s all cleared and I’m loookng at the flat roof joists there isn’t any sort of lintel above the door tbh there isn’t much of anything lol .

My intentions are to build a
Timber framed pitched roof on top of the porch… the flat roof I don’t like plus it Leaks.

In the back of my mind I have the thought that building regs requires a lintel above a door or window ? I could be wrong though and would this also apply to a timber structure ?

Building regulations require a suitable support above openings, and that could be made from concrete , steel or timber, so there is no requirement for "a lintel".

However, if building regulations don't apply to this work, then whilst you don't have to meet those standards, you should obviously still ensure it wont fall down.

What's the other end of the lintel/support supposed be be sitting on? Not the frame surely?

I just need one more answer then I can round the invoice up

Lol at present there isn’t anything above the door frame the closest 4x2 timber one side currently sits(balances) on the party wall the other side is sitting on the upvc side frame

What I propose to do is where the side frame is replace that with a double skin cavity a bit wider than at present. I was thinking run 4x2 /6x2 from one party wall to the new wall with onto the wall plates on the inner leaf.

I need to put at least a joist above the door as the door only has two screws either vertical side.
