I would appreciate any advice on what to use to create an occasional car turning area on a front lawn. This patch would be in front of a window and I was thinking of a plastic mesh with grass growing through ?

If you have quite a large area and want to make a really good job of it the concrete slabs with a centre mesh for planting grass is a good idea. I'm thinking of doing this with our drive as i'm sick of gravel. Thus supports vehicles, easy to maintain with mower and 'weed and feed'.

Another idea is just to make up your own grid using paving bricks. 4 ins say between rows. Put the bricks on a 2 ins batten for ease of laying and getting the height right. This is what i'm going to do as 50 bricks cost about £10. I mentioned before the concrete slabs with 'centre mesh' - it's not quite a centre mesh it's four semi circles joined together.
