Read through a couple of threads on this topic. Back of tiles visible in the loft of my 1930s terrace. Mortar applied to back of tiles disintegrating and coating everything in dust in the attic. Trying to avoid re-torching the tiles.
I've got large offcuts of new underlay for carpets, is it crazy to consider tacting it to the bottom of the rafters so any crumbling material runs off to the sides (most of my belongings are in the middle of the loft).
