If you listen very very carefully to Sviatoslav Richter,,,, At 1:25 on the recording, he actually plays an F# Augmented 5th chord,,, Instead of the F# augmented 7th dim.
Quite a neat trick. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I'm sorry to lower the tone (pun intended), but I prefer this:

My favourite bit is from 9 minutes onwards.

Remember him well from many years ago.

What brought on this piece of nostalgia?

That morecombe and wise sketch was completely unrehearsed. Previn flew in from new york, reading the script on the plane. They did the routine live, in the first take. Amazing!!

Was youtubing around for a chopin piece which has been rolling round my head for a couple of days. One thing led to another - you know how it is.

Yep and Mr Preview :D played his part very well.

Anyway, sorry to hijack JM. Back to your thread.

Here's another "unreheased perfomance", this time by Doris Day. By all accounts, this was the first dress rehearsal. When Day returned home afterwards the director phoned her up and said that he didn't think it could ever be improved upon and that they were going to use this in the final movie - hence why some of the camera shots are not quite as refined as they might otherwise have been.

This guy is pretty good too -went to a recital a few years ago.

I totally agree (Quick - anyone? What did he just say?)

Augmented means to raise by a semitone. Diminished means to lower a semitone - so a diminished augmented means a raised lowered 7th - which makes no sense and leaves it as a plain old natural 7th.

Victor Borge  Ah, Yes I remember it well . Frenchman, wasn`t he ;) Vic will be spinning in his grave @ the Text. spk and the " Greengrocer`s apostraphe " Are you a Pianist, Joe - or just fast @ googling ;)
