I'm moving into a new flat soon and want to install my slim-line dishwasher, although there is not a space allocated for this. I am considering removing one of the base units to make room for this and was just wondering if this would be possible and if there is anything I need to consider? Thanks

pipes and wires may be attached or go through holes out of sight
the unit may be a key support for the worktop sinkunit or ajacent unit ect

the units may be fixed together by connectors may also be screwed or masticed to worktop or wall

if the floor has been laid after the units you may have a step that will require you to increase clearence[laminate flooring for example]
by screwing feet in or carefull lifting the front edge of worktop if possible
if it wont rise enough you could be in trouble

Ok thanks, that is a few things I will look out for. I think I am just fishing for confirmation that this is possible and that it has been done before.

other things you need to think about is accsesability for water power and waste
worth asking a plumber for a quote for different areas if he cant reach services you will need to remove more units with all the relivent disruption and cost

ok cheers, I am not moving in until next week and have yet to see the layout of the units so I cannot really confirm anything until then. I'm sure I will be back with more questions when I get the keys! Thanks for your help so far:cool:

You can have a look inside the cupboard. It is probably screwed to the worktop and the wall and the cupboards on either side.

Look at each side; if you take this one out, is anything else holding up the worktop?

If the unit is a low-priced home assemply one it will probably fall apart as soon as you start loosening the screws.

The closer you fit it to the sink, the easier the plumbing will be.
