Remove scratches from stainless steel

Anyone any ideas on how I can remove scratches from stainless steel extractor fan?

Glue 320 grade wet and dry to wood block with PVA.
Wet sand

Then 400
Then 600
Then 1000
Then cutting wax and cloth to buff up

Best have a practice of something first
 
I would not touch with anything abrasive.

Try and polish it out, T-cut and elbow grease.
(Other polishing compunds are available).

No doubt a mixture of toothpaste and baking soda will be mentioned on the web :)
