Hi all, the lock cylinder in my uPVC door has failed, Yale have sent me a replacement under warranty...but I'm struggling to get the door off as it's failed while locked.

I tried to take the hinges off but there is a metal cover which must be screwed on from the back side. Photos attached. I was thinking to take a guess where the screw might be and drilling it out from the inside.

Anyone got any other advice what to do here?

It's my house front door so I'm trying to work delicately so it can go back on once I replace the cylinder.

Thanks

I think you have lift off hinges there.
So lift off door

Don’t think you can with the door closed.

Could you completely remove those hinge pins in the middle photo using an Allen key?

Ah. Yeah, would need to open door. If lock is engaged then that's a problem.
You can remove that front door hinge cover plate. Leaver off.

I think they're just for adjustment. I think the fix in fixed into the frame side part of the hinge then the door drops down on to it, it doesn't look like the pin comes out unfortunately.

I tried wedging it up with a chisel but its not budging. I'm assuming there's a screw on the other side.

I think this is a pretty similar hinge. So I think maybe I'll need to take a shot are drilling where the screw might be.

I don't know then.
My only thought is to buy replacement hinges and break those off. Last result that though. £20 for 3

Yeah I'll maybe just need to get a new set of hinges.

I went ahead and drilled the cover and was able to get them off. I'll try removing the hinge screws now and see if I can get the door off. My only worry is that the multi point lock has a couple of hook type bolts when it's locked.

Could stick those covers back on with polymer.
White PVC caps over drilled hole

Well I've got the hinges off and can move the door around but it's still stuck in place because of the multi point lock. There's a hook top and bottom that engages when locked. Photo attached (same back door on my house).

Actually I can't see how you'd get the door out the frame or the cylinder out the door without breaking one or both!

It's an anti snap lock by the looks of it so that'd be futile and it's bound to be anti drill as well
