Hi, 1st post so goo easy. here is the problem.
We live in a end terrace with 4 Bedrooms, 2 + 1 reception rooms. Its oil fired central heating. The roofspace has been converted so the 4th bedroom is 2 storeys up. I have had the chimney breast removed at roof level down to 1st floor level, so the chimney breast still remains on the ground floor, making the open fire obsolete. The problem is that the fire and back boiler are still plumbed into the heating circuit. This means I can feel the heat coming from the disused fire when the heating is on. I would like to remove this from the circuit, however I have had a look in the access panel at the side of the fire and there are 4 pipes coming from the back boiler. Do i just cut each pipe and cap it, to stop it coming into the loop? there is also a disused circulating pump in-line which I plan to remove as it isn't wired and I'm assuming just restricts the flow of water.
I would like to do this as the downstairs radiatiors never get above warm (can always keep your hand on them) although the upstairs radiators are piping hot. thermostatic valves have also been fitted to all radistors..
Any help is appreciated.
