Hi

It could have been worse but I stopped a company as part of the govt ECO4 scheme from finishing external wall insulation before it was too late ,.e.g before they drilled holes

It looks like they used the EWI materials as seen within the attached

So they removed the EPS boards pathetically and my mum stopped them from removing the adhesive blobs as they were using a hammer and chisel.

For the best possible result with solutions or materials readily available on the market, can anyone suggest what can be done?

As I said it could have been worse as they didn't apply the boards with adhesive around the perimeter and want to know bow it should be removed before we meet with them for a resolution as required before an official complaint is made to the certified bodies.

Thanks

Whats the issue with blobs? I thought EWI was fine on a blob each corner. and 2 near the middle on 1200x600 boards.

Why do you care how any adhesive is removed... presumably the property did, in fact, need EWI?

Because the company did a job that even the Chuckle Brothers could have handled better

That's why I care about removing the adhesive as we'd rather not continue with dodgy companies exploiting the ECO4 scheme and clean up the mess they made as they can't even be trusted to do that as they used gardening shovels to remove the EPS boards

Trust me .

We had a shed load of evidence showing how awful the work was but thankfully it was stopped before they drilled in

I would have thought scoring the materials first would make removal easier and less at risk of damaging bricks .....

I mean the opening post couldn't be any clearer as to the reasons why the adhesive would like to be removed ...gone away from that to very questionable comments which is quite worrisome.

Let's get Brucie to guide us through the pics of how professionals would apply EWI , that's right let's plaster over huge gaps instead of using fire resistant foam or wedge small pieces in gaps where the pieces haven't been cut to fit and without using a spirit level, or let's wedge boards by windows , or better still nail on end pieces and dab without applying to the perimeter

Good game, good game

Probably mechanically remove the majority with a scraper blade in a multi tool flat against the wall and
(if it's it PU foam adhesive - your garden likely littered with empty aerosol cans) foam gun type cleaner and a scrubbing brush - if not contact the adhesive manufacturer - but it's often mechanical removal only. The rest will have to weather away. It's obvious, and quite right, that you're furious - but surely there's a few reputable installers in the cess pit of eco money grabbing and it would be worth getting it done properly if you could find one - maybe the "professional" body knows who they'd have working on their own house.
