Hi all,

IMG_20240525_192655.jpg

The wife has decided we have to have a black overflow trim and plug in the bath

Ive sourced the correct parts, I just wondered if any of the experienced plumbers had any advice on removing the exisiting trim.

Is it likely to just be glued on and should pop off with a slim scraper or is it likely to have been set in during the fibreglassing stage of the bath?

Thanks
Chris

It will be stuck on, how well is anyone's guess - how easily it will pop off again is anyone's guess and it could damage the bath - I'd use a plastic pry tool if going to attempt it- alternatively why not just mask it off and spray it matt/satin black then lacquer it?

Hi Rob,

To be honest I'd thought about just wrapping it in situ as it should ever really get wet, it just happened that the plug I bought came with the trim so it was a case of why not fit it if it's not too risky

of course - makes sense to at least try if you have the piece - certainly worth a try to see if it'll pop off. I wouldn't go too hard though before stopping, just in case.

Stuck on with silicone, popped right off.

I used the pallete knife I use for window beads as it has a really thin edge.
