I am buying a condo that has ceramic tile in the entry way (36 sf), and in the kitchen (150 sf) which already has vinyl tile laid over it. I want to put laminate flooring in both areas. I'm gathering that it is quite a project to remove it, and would be willing to resort to just laying the laminate over it if absoluately necessary. 1. Are there any products out there that would soften up the mortar holding the ceramic (at least in the entry way?) (I'd like not to alienate myself with my new neighbors by pounding away endlessly on the floors!) 2. Other than door clearance concerns, is there any reason why I can't lay the laminate over the existing tile? Thanks!!

As long as the existing flooring is solid and in good order then you can go over the top with laminate.Make sure you use an underlay and it shouldn't be a problem.
