Removing Electric Shower (Blanking?)

Hello,

I want to remove my old electric shower and make the ceiling good (remove the switch).

I can/have switched off the shower in the consumer unit, but I want to leave the wire and switch in place just in case.

I assume that the best practice is to blank off the (now not live wire) in the loft. Is that the case? If so, what's the best method to accomplish this, just a normal blanking plate and metal back box?

The water to shower has been disconnected.

Why not use the switch plastic back box - plus blank plate?

You do not mention the cable that goes from switch to the shower.
Obviously you will disconnect this cable from the switch and remove or leave safely positioned out of the way.

I would mount a cooker connection unit in the loft, as the terminals are large enough, and it looks neat.

Yes, you're right. I would need to sort this.

Good idea about the switch plastic back box - plus blank plate, will do that.

Just put each wire in a separate connector block or similar so that they cannot touch each other.

Do I need to worry about clipping the wires leading to the socket?
