Hi,

Can anyone advise on effective ways to remove grout? We tiled the bathroom some 6 months ago and we are unsatisfactory with the quality of the grouting so would like to start again. Is there any products you can use to soften the grout or is simply a case of scraping it with a sharp object?

A grout removing tool is available.

I doubt if there are any solvents to to the job. If there were, it would remove the tile adhesive as well. :D

Plasplugs have a diy range of tiling tools one of which is a grout removel tool which is a plastic handeld - hand held saw tooth shaped blade which scrapes the grout out between the tiles £4.

Dremel or similar with a grout removing bit. Those manual ones dont half make your arm ache after a while ;)

I have a dremel with the tile grout attachment. It's ok as long as your tiles have been laid properly and have an exactly uniform grout gap. I generally only use it where I can't get in with the grout rake. Remember, you don't need to remove all the grout, just enough to provide a decent key for the next lot.
