Hi all, looking for advice on how to remove milky white heat marks from this tabletop, caused by ironing with a steam iron used on top of towels - a stupid decision in hindsight!

Have seen a lot of advice online, but as not certain of the actual materials the tabletop is made from I don't want to potentially cause more damage trying to fix it. Best guess is either lacquered or veneered wood, as very thin top layer of something that is supposed to look like walnut wood on top of what looks to be chipboard. Was originally bought from Made.com, and is the same table as listed on this website (but no available info on materials): https://www.zenkki.co.uk/products/mist-dining-set

Help identifying the materials would go a long way to finding the most relevant advice/possible fixes. Cheers!

White marks are moisture trapped in veneer , remedy is usually a hot iron over an absorbent cotton cloth or kitchen towel.Keep iron moving and check progress often to avoid overheating timber .
