Removing marker pen from a ceiling?

I have recently had a new ceiling over boarded and skimmed, it had its mist coat and since then 2 top coats.

The ceiling is part of a kitchen / dinner ceiling so a large area.

I have had a kitchen refurb which included the electrician putting in 4 ceiling spot lights.

extremely frustrating when they came back to do the 2nd fix to cut the circular holes in the ceiling for the spot lights, there was a mistake made in reading the lighting plan/diagram and two black crosses where marked out on my white ceiling in marker pen, then they realised they weren't in the right place! so I've now been left with two black marker pen crosses.

I'm conscious of whether I can get away with touch up this area, perhaps firstly with stain block then matt emulsion or will the touch up be noticeable and ill have to do the whole ceiling?

Any thoughts, ideas are most welcome...

Worth trying methylated spirits, but at best it will leave a splodgy stain. After removing as much as possible use a stain block paint at least two coats.

Have a word with the electricians... I always mark out faintly in pencil. Easy to clean off. They should know this!

I would give the marks a couple of coats of a stain blocker (its normally pretty thick so don't go mad with the thickness of the coats or it can make it look obvious) give it plenty of time to dry properly and a touch in since the surrounding paint is fresh. Make sure that you paint over the stain blocker using the same method as the rest of the ceiling ie - if it was rollered touch in with a roller,I find it helps to blend it a little better having the same texture on the touch in as the rest.

try a bit of bleach on a sponge first -depending on the markey type it might bleach the colour out of the ink.
